This of course means it’s time to do those green hats and clothes and make for the nearest pub in celebration of St Patrick and Irish culture. Join in the spirit of this annual feast day by making your own green beer – just add a few drops of food colouring to beer; the lighter the beer, the more “emerald” the result. If you’re not a big fan of beer however, no worries. We’ve rounded up a couple of easy green cocktail recipes that are sure to get you well on your way to sham-rocking up Saint Paddy’s!

Shamrock Shooter

  • 60 ml Midori melon liqueur
  • 15 ml Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey
  • 15 ml Bailey’s Irish Cream liqueur
  • Ice

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and strain into a glass. Garnish as desired and serve.

Emerald Martini

  • 45 ml Midori melon liqueur
  • 45 ml vodka

Shake ingredients and pour into a glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and serve.

  • 15 ml Peach Schnapps
  • 15 ml Blue Curacao
  • 90 ml orange juice
  • 90 ml Sprite

  • 30 ml Midori melon liqueur
  • 30 ml lemon-flavoured vodka
  • 30 ml cranberry juice
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • Ice

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and strain into a glass. Garnish with raspberries and serve.

Pour the champagne into a champagne flute. Add the Midori and orange juice, and serve.

Green Tea Mint Julep

  • 45 ml Charbay Green Tea vodka
  • 30 ml simple syrup
  • 8 mint leaves
  • 3 lemon wedges
  • Sprite
  • Ice

Muddle lemon wedges with mint leaves. Add vodka, simple syrup and shake. Strain into a highball glass over ice. Top with Sprite. Garnish with mint leaves.

  • 30 ml Sour Apple Pucker
  • 7 ml melon liqueur
  • 30 ml fresh lime juice
  • Ice

Mix ingredients together in a margarita glass. Garnish with lime wedges or lime wheels and serve.

Kiwi Cocktail

  • 1 ripe kiwi
  • 70 ml kiwi liqueur
  • 30 ml vanilla-flavoured vodka
  • Ice

Peel and mash the kiwi into a smooth paste. Combine the kiwi and other ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Serve in a martini glass and garnish with a kiwi slice.

Green Daiquiri Punch

  • punch 2680 ml (2cans) frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
  • 450 ml lemon-lime flavoured Gatorade, chilled
  • 225 ml light rum
  • 680 ml (2 cans) lemon-lime soda, chilled

Mix limeade concentrate, Gatorade and rum in a pitcher. Refrigerate. Just before serving, transfer to punch bowl, add soda and serve with maraschino cherries.
