Low carb flax bread

This flax bread recipe is the answer for those missing the taste of bread. Flax bread is a delicious, low-carb alternative to regular bread, with a rough texture and crunchy crust – perfect for toast with grilled cheese, a little butter or sugar-free maple syrup or as burger buns.

Servings: 1 loaf

Prep Time: 15 Minutes

Cook Time: 20 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 440 g flax seed meal
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3-6 tsp sugar equivalent from artificial sweetener
  • 5 beaten eggs
  • 120 ml water
  • 80 ml oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175 C.
  2. Whisk together the dry ingredients.
  3. Combine well with eggs, water and oil.
  4. Let the batter set for 2-3 minutes to thicken.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 10 x 15 pan.
  6. Bake for around 20 minutes or until springy or visibly browning.

      just curious – is that an actual picture? the recipe instructions call for a 10 x 15 pan, not a loaf pan. I couldn’t picture that loaf coming from a sheet pan.

      So quick and easy. I made it in a loaf pan and it worked perfectly using xylitol for the sweet part. Added cinnamon and walnuts for addedd yummyness!

        Hi Fernanda! The thickness of the cuts depends on your personal preference, but as a general rule, around 2cm thick is a good start. :)
