Cocktail Recipe: Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri,
The history behind the Daiquiri Cocktail
Did you know this? July 19 is National Daiquiri Day!
One of the most popular cocktail drinks around the world, the daiquiri took its name from Daiquiri, a mining and beach area near Santiago, Cuba. This sweet concoction is said to have been invented by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox, and gained widespread approval in the 1940’s, especially among the US military. A favourite drink of famous writer Ernest Hemingway and former US President John F. Kennedy, you can enjoy mixing and drinking many variations of this drink, one of which is this well-loved recipe for a blended, Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri.
Frozen Daiquiri Variations
If you want an even fresher option, you can use a whole lime instead of lime juice – just add it in with the other ingredients. You can also experiment with frozen daiquiris by substituting other fruits in season. Peaches and ripe mangoes, for example, will follow the same basic recipe but with the addition of triple sec or Curacao. Fresh mangoes, in particular, make for a fantastic tropical daiquiri.
