Easy Cranberry Sauce for Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner, and with it comes the rushed preparations associated with the Christmas feast. Worry not – this cranberry sauce recipe is simple and easy. With an excellent depth of flavour, it makes a perfect accompaniment to roasts, poultry and baked ham, and its beautiful dark red colour definitely renders it a striking side dish on the table.

Before baking the ingredients, make sure that you’ve filtered the cranberries, tossing out the pieces that are damaged or soft and then using the good fresh pieces.

Cranberry Sauce

Pair your Christmas turkey or baked ham with this easy, delicious cranberry sauce. The recipe also makes a good spread for cream crackers and baguette.

Servings: 3 cups

Prep Time: 5 Minutes

Cook Time: 1 Minutes


  • 450 g cranberries
  • 200 g white sugar
  • 200 g brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 60 ml bourbon


  1. Preheat oven to 170 C.
  2. Combine the cranberries, sugars and cinnamon in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  3. Tightly cover with foil.
  4. Bake for around 1 hour, stirring once.
  5. The cranberries should be tender, and the sugar, dissolved.
  6. Remove from the oven and stir in bourbon. Refrigerate for several hours or until well chilled.
